Our motorcycle trip in Thailand wasn't really intended to be during the off season, it just happened to be the only time we could get away.
Thailand
I have always enjoyed traveling in the off season. You tend to get a more personal look at the place you are visiting. You might get the rain or what ever other element makes it the off season, but you get less people and the mask applied by the locals to accommodate tourists seems to get removed more often. When you are the only customers in a hotel, a restaurant, a bar or just walking down the street, you get a better feel for the place and the people. You end up having a beer with the locals rather than one of the many other tourists in town during the high season.
